Guru – Rahman brings me back!

I thought of taking a break from from life n blogging, but certain things does not allow me to come back. Rahman is one of them, he just created magic with the music of Guru and here Gulzar’s Lyrics acts as the magic chants.

Thanks to Ajit Mundra from A R Rahman Fans for translating these chants to English, which makes them more meaningful! Ajit, I owe a lot to you!

Aye Hairateaahiqui… Here goes the translation!

Aye hairat-e-aashiqui, jagaa mat
Pairo se zameen lagaa mat

Let me sleep and dream longer, in this bliss of love
Wake me not
Let my feet stay afloat in the blithe air, eternally

(The absolute ecstasy of love, the elated trance one feels when a love
succeeds, a celebration and reassurance that life will have a love to
fall back on, whatever the times be….)

Kyun urdu faarsi bolte ho
Dus kehte ho do tolte ho
Jhooton ke shenshah bolo na
Why do you say what you do not mean?
What do your words mean when you don’t know them?
Tell me what’s your story, O king of liars!

(An affectionate chhed-chhad between two lovers)

Kabhi jhaanko meri aankhen
Sunaaen ek dastaan, jo honthon se kholo na

Look into my eyes, you will see a story
The story that is there is in your heart but not on your lips

(A surreal color scheme, a theatrical cyclorama, a real celebration
interspersed with a dreamy portrayal)

Do chaar maheene se lamho mein
Umro ke hisaab bhi hote hain

In these moments, in these months,
An age can be summed up

Jinhe dekha nahi kal tak
Kahin bhi ab khokh mein wo chehre bote hain

The one whom I have never seen
The one whom I do not know
Somewhere faces are being born out of that one
Faces that shall stay forever in my psyche

(Illustrates the beauty of anonymity in a marriage, and the subsequent
delight in this illusion, this mirage)

Amazing!

And another track from Guru, which creats swirls in your heart and gives you goosebumps is Tere Bina…

Here goes the translation for Tere Bina ….

Tere bina beswaadi beswaadi ratiyaan
Rukhi re oh rookhi re
Katore kaate katena

(The subtle declaration of a sublime love)

Without you, my nights are tasteless
They are dry like the homeless wind
Those intolerable nights….

(The helplessness of a heartfelt love)

Aalaap

(A huge roofless expanse emphasizing the limitless possibilities of
young love)

Na jaa chaakri ke mare na ja
Sautan pukaare
Saawan aayega to poochhega
Na ja re….

Pheeki pheeki beswaadi ye ratiyaan
Kaatore kate na kate na

Tere bina chaand ka sona khota re
Peeli peeli dhoop udaawe jhoota re

Without you, the moon has no sheen
It just glimmers with stale sunlight, the liar it is.

Tere bina sona petal
Tere sang keekar peepal
Aaja kate na ratiyaan

Music of Guru is for those who love pure music, for those who understands what world class means… and for rest of the population who does not understand thesem, we have Mr. Reshammiya alive!

about this blog that you have posted…

the songs are really amazing…no offends meant, but i just felt that they are self explainatry…somethings are so beatutiful that they shud not be talked of in such depths..!! it looses it beauty otherwise..they shud be left on one’s perceptions to be enjoyed in their own ways…

this is what i felt and obviously can differ from many ppl’s opinions..!!

    songwriting and sex

Writing a song is like Sex. It’s like….first…you’re mind is totally on something else, fixated on some object or mental crisis in a different galaxy. Then BAM! it hits you like a ton of bricks. At first, it starts off like an urge. You know….it’s like you get horny to write. But then, it becomes a need and it overwhelms your entire body. Soon…it’s all you can think of. You go grab that guitar or sit down at the piano and it’s like a thirst being quenched. Your mind races and your senses (and sensitivities) become alive and aroused. Then of course you just dive into the abyss….unaware of where it’s going or when it will end. While you’re doing it, complete pleasure. You forget who you are….you lose all ego or sense of self. You’re just existing…in the moment. You lose time. And then, when you get done you have this overwhelming sense of release. When you finish….the song replays over and over again in your mind……and it’s all you can think about. A symphony in your mind……illuminating reality into a blissful colorful universe. And of course…..all you can think about is doing it again!
